Google LM Notebook - Example using Shirley Jackson’s "The Lottery"

Google NotebookLM is an AI-driven note-taking tool designed to help users manage and interact with their documents more efficiently. It enables users to summarize, ask questions, and brainstorm ideas based on the content of their uploaded files. As a "source-grounded" tool, NotebookLM relies on user-provided documents to reduce inaccuracies. Currently, it is available in experimental testing with limited access in the U.S. You can explore it at notebooklm.google.com.

One standout feature of Google NotebookLM is the new Audio Overview, which turns your documents into engaging audio discussions. With just one click, two AI hosts dive into a conversational summary of your material, linking topics and offering insights based on your uploaded sources. These discussions reflect the specifics of the uploaded content, rather than an objective analysis. You can download and listen to these audio files on the go.

To try it out: visit NotebookLM, create a new notebook, upload at least one source, and click the “Generate” button to produce an Audio Overview from your content.

For example, I uploaded Shirley Jackson’s classic short story, "The Lottery." Within minutes, I had a concise yet in-depth podcast-style analysis of the story and its enduring themes. Give it a listen!
